Republic of Patterns
When creating the visual identity for Republic of Patterns, I had the comfort of working on a brand in the nascent stage. So we started with a “naked” idea, and it was my job to dress it up in a colorful, rich and bold style. Republic of Patterns operates in the fashion industry, producing and selling hats, t-shirts and shirts in distinctive colorful patterns. Their slogan is “No More Basic!” and i wanted to capture this statement in the visual code as well.

The logo itself had to be relatively simple. It will mostly be reproduced in the form of embroidery and engraving – and usually in a small size. That’s why we added an icon that, when justified, can represent the brand on its own. This works well for small labels on hats, for example.

The brand identity is based on two colors – navy blue and orange. Both in very vivid, saturated hues. For consistency, I also adapted a font from Google’s library. I also created two illustrations for the promotional materials. The inspiration was, of course, the theme of patterns – orderly repetition with a twist. They were used, among other things, as postcards attached to the products sold.

We were able to capture a great deal of the pure fun and positive energy that the brand wanted to be associated with. An original style that stands out. Currently, the market is much more saturated in this sector. However, in 2018, when ROP appeared, it was definitely something new in the local market. The bold and thoughtful visual code undoubtedly made it easier for them to take off.
